I think the world was just formed by accident, and there is no particular reason why. It was formed when the Universe was formed and was just a lump of rock, but with one important thing – water. Over billions of years, because there was water and it wasn’t too hot or too cold, plants and animals could evolve and made it like it is today.

I think everyone will have their own views on this. I also think the world came into being completely at random. Scientists who study the universe think that after the Big Bang, the universe was made up of gas. The hotter denser areas of gas collapsed and formed stars with planets circling around them. I believe this is what happened, but other poeple may disagree and believe in a god that created the earth and the rest of the universe. I agree with Angharad that because the earth has water and is the right temperature, life could evolve here, and I belive that evolution is responsible for all the differents types of animals and plants that we see on earth today.
