      Last year some building work was being done in the lab which led to a pigeon getting in! It kept flying around while we were working, sitting on the analysers and PCs, knocking things over and pooing everywhere until it could be caught!

      Twice I’ve taken blood from “normal” colleagues for experiments and discovered there was something wrong with them. That’s tricky.

      When I worked in A&E a man came in in March saying a piece of his Christmas dinner had got stuck between his teeth – it was still there and I removed it!

      I was using a sharp knife to dissect a tissue specimen in our laboratory, when I knocked over a marker pen which fell onto the floor. The lady next to me screamed because she thought I had accidentally cut my finger off, and that it was my severed finger which was rolling around on the floor. She was very embarrassed afterwards!
