I don’t know – it could be either. Like Jonathan says, an animal (bird of some sort) probably laid an egg and a dinosaur came out of it! However, in relation to chickens and eggs, I got some chickens last week and in my garden the chicken most definitely came before the eggs! Today was the first day we got an egg from all 3 chickens 🙂
I think this is the first time I’ve disagreed with a fellow Scientist! The sequence has to be: Other animal… Dinosaur that isn’t a bird…Bird. Sometimes you can see impressions of feathers in fossils, and we’re gradually working out the evolution of birds. Some people think the feathers evolved to keep the animals warm, and that flight came later.
Did you know that a few species of mammals lay eggs?
