Its unlikely there has ever been life on Mars as it does not have the gravitational pull to keep an atmosphere. However it is possible that at some stage there was water flowing on the surface of the planet allowing very simple organisms to exist. One day fossil hunting on Mars may be very popular.

We don’t know, but most scientists think probably not.

We don’t know for certain. There have been some meteorites that have landed on Earth which came from Mars. Some of these have been examined by electron microscope, and contain very tiny objects which look like bacteria. So some scientists think bacteria may have existed on Mars in the past, especially as many scientists think water also existed there in the past. However the Mars surface is affected by radiation from the sun much more than the Earth, so some scientists think life on Mars could only have existed underground.
