There are about 2700 species of snake in the world, but only about 375 of those are deadly poisonous.

Did you know there are no snakes at all in Ireland? (apart from in zoos!)

I’ve answered this, but the answer has disappeared.

It’s just been discovered that lots of snakes (and some lizards) that we thought were nonvenomous do make the same poisons as snakes that we know are venomous. Knowing this will probably make us classify snakes and lizards differently from how we did it in the past.

How many species of snake are there in Britain? Have you ever seen one in the wild? There are clubs you can join that know where to look for them.
