This is not my area. If you are worried about the effects of long QT syndrome you should ask your family doctor first, or ask your parents to find out. I would think you will also be seeing a hospital specialist too, so you can ask them too.
As you probably know, there are different types of long QT syndrome depending which gene is involved – and the effects on you will depend on which type you have. All people who have long QT should be treated, and the type of treatment may also depend on what type you have. I understand that the treatment can successfully help many people who have long QT syndrome. You should discuss with your doctor which treatment is right for you, and what the effects of your condition might be on your sporting activities.

Good advice from Sam. When you talk to the specialist ask her which web sites are worth looking at, and which self-help groups there are. Become an expert on your own condition.

I agree with Sam & Jonathan – speak to your specialist about what you should and shouldn’t do since this will depend on exactly what type you have and your personal risk. It’s good that you have been diagnosed though so you can manage the condition and hopefully lead a ‘normal’ life 🙂 This site may be of interest to you: http://www.myheart.org.uk/ and in particular: http://www.myheart.org.uk/tag/long-qt-syndrome-lqts/
